Questiondoes the scanner have automatic feed or do i have to place each page on the scanner? Also, does it scan and print double sided?

- Answer Yes, there is an automatic feeder and it does print double-sided. However, it wouldn't scan both sides of a double sided page. If the document you are copying is printed on only one side, you can place all the sheets in the feeder and then print the copy double-sided. But if the document is already double-sided, you have to scan each sheet separately on the scanner.

- Answer No, this printer cannot print on two sides at the same time. To print on both sides, you will need to run each piece of paper through the printer twice.

QuestionWhat 2-wire phone cord adaptor is recommended for this printer for fax purposes?

- Answer the one that comes with the printer works. look closely at the end. you'll see just two wires inside the socket. longer cords usually have 4 wires and those won't work. a 2-wire cord isn't terribly unique, but it is usually shorter than the 4-wire cords. I had to move my printer closer to the wall socket to accomodate.

- Answer When you enroll in the print package you will automatically receive your ink before you run out. You may cancel anytime but I understand the first package is free.

Questionscanning picturesWill this machine scan 6 pictures and make them separate files? My old HP 4100 would allow selection of each picture by outlining it and that way each photo would be saved to file individually even though all 6 were scanned at once.

- Answer yes it does separate pictures into individual files. I'e done as many as 12 small pictures. Just select crop from the advanced menu.

- Answer Hello, I see that you're interested in knowing if the ENVY 7640 can be wired and wireless at the same time. Although the 7640 supports both wired and wireless connection, you cannot have both active at the same time. The best solution to be able to print from your PC and laptop at the same time will be to connect the printer to a router using Ethernet cable/ wireless (based on your choice). Then connect the laptop to the same router on wireless. Hopefully that helps you out, and thanks again for choosing HP.

- Answer For Windows. Go to printers and devices (from cortana or control panel) and right click on your printer. Then go to Printing Preferences - Page Layout - Page Order and select back to front. Why that is not the default is beyond me.

QuestionI bought Hp-Envy 7645 wireless Printer, but when I open the box I found a book HP-Envy 7640 and a CD for Hp-envy 7640 also. Are there anything wrong ? Can I still use it without any problem in the future when it update ?

- Answer I received exactly the same information as you. From what I can see, the information packet on the HP 7640 was compatible with my HP 7645. When I went to install the CD to set up the printer, it prompted me to use the latest update available instead of the CD. So I removed the CD and used the newest update, as recommended. It was smooth sailing from there on...no problems whatsoever. I hope this helps you.

QuestionI'm having trouble choosing between the Envy 7640 & the OfficeJet 5741. Any one able to to help make up my mind? One has a photo try & the other does duplex scanning. One is wired, the other is wireless, but both print wirelessly!

- Answer The 7640 is completely wireless (it does include an Ethernet jack on the back), can be set up completely from your smartphone, contains its own wifi network, includes NFC, and can order its own ink via HP Instant Ink. For me, the main difference is that the ENVY line produces lab-quality prints, whereas the OfficeJet doesn't make that claim.
