It weighs 5lbs. It's slightly heavier than my plastic laptop. I like it. It's very sleek. When I first opened it, I definitely knew it had a little more weight to it, however, if your carrying more on your back than the laptop, you may want to figure in the 5lbs.

Just took a road trip and had to wait to check in to my hotel, so I kept my backpack which was full of stuff (including the laptop) and it was no problem. I'm not necessarily the strongest and it was no problem for me. If weight might be a concern, the 13 inch is supposed to be really good
