- Answer Hello, Tuck. Yes, you can print checks with this printer. We recommend making sure that your bank does not require MICR Toner. If they do require MICR toner, here are more details. Unfortunately, off-the-shelf HP laser printers and toners are not MICR compliant since MICR check printing requires a MICR modified printer and MICR toner. QuestionDoes this printer allow for an additional paper tray be added for more volume? also does it allow you to print a file that has both legal and letter head in the file? If it runs out of letter and the other tray is legal, will it stop printing?

- Answer Hello. Thanks for your question. Yes, you can add an additional 550 sheet paper tray to this printer. You would need the HP LaserJet 550-sheet Feeder Tray (CF404A).

QuestionCan I print both letter and legal size at the same time?

- Answer No, that is not a feature any printer will have to my knowledge because you will select the paper size from your computer prior to printing and there's no way to change paper sizes in the middle of printer. There are two paper trays so you can load letter and legal size and each try, but it won't be able to switch between the two when printing. Hope this helps.

- Answer The HP Color LaserJet Pro Multifunction M479fdw printer comes with 4 preinstalled Introductory HP LaserJet Toner cartridges (Black~2400 pages, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow: ~1200 pages). The black is a full toner. The colors are starter toner cartridges.

- Answer Legal is the largest 8.5x14 but.... the tray sticks out (by design) when loaded with legal size. And the printer is 50/50 on recognizing that it has paper loaded. avoid.

- Answer The paper tray on the M479fdw has two length settings. One is for letter and one is for legal. Because the media pick system is in the back of the engine, the tray must extend out the front for legal. It sticks out an inch or two when the tray is extended. There is a small blue lever in the front of the tray a bit to the right of center. If you squeeze that towards the front of the tray and slide the two sections of the tray together, the tray extends to accept the 8.5x14 paper. Letter paper will still work with the tray extended because it is held in by paper guides, but the tray sticks out and looks like it is not closed even though it is fully inserted.

- Answer Technically it should. However, we use standard 20# paper and have jams an average of every 50 pages or so. Jams registering even when no jams are present. avoid if possible
