The HP M477fdw printer actually has some issues with scanning. When you scan documents using the ADF either directly from the printer or using the HP scanning software they will always come out crooked/skewed. If you use the included HP scanning software and select Searchable PDF as the file type then the scanned documents will come out a bit better. This can only be done from the software and not from the printer. Documents that are scanned using the flatbed scanner (directly from the printer or using the scanning software) come out correctly. Most people want to use ADF rather than scanning one page at a time on the flatbed scanner. The included scanning software is ok. The main issue is dealing with the crooked scans. The OCR is done by the 3rd pary software that is is included with the HP Software.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have not actually scanned OCR yet, but I know when I did scan using the software that came with the printer, it did give this option. I have scanned a few pictures and it did the job. I used the flat bed option rather than document feed.
