Some IDIOT responded saying that there are 3 audio jacks on the back of the PC. Yes there are 3 audio jacks on the back of the PC but 2 out of those 3 jacks are input jacks. Only 1 of those 3 audio jacks make up ONLY 1 of the jacks that you need to produce 5.1 surround sound as a PC with 5.1 surround sound typically has 5 color coded audio jacks (2x inputs & 3x outputs) while 7.1 sound typically has 6 color coded jacks (2x input & 4x output). The 3 audio jacks on the back (Blue[line in], green[stereo/front/headphones],& pink[mike in]) are NOT the 5.1 surround sound jacks required for 5.1 sound. you still need the black[rear] and the orange[sub/center] jacks to produce true 5.1 surround sound. HP has been lying to its customers for years by saying that their PCs produce 5.1 sound output right out of the box when their motherboards DON'T HAVE ALL OF THE NECESSARY 5.1 OUTPUTS. HP support will then give the BS excuse that their HP PC motherboards are 5.1 surround sound "capable", but can ONLY produce true 5.1 surround sound with "additional hardware" added to the HP PCs which you will have to purchase and install separately since HP doesn't have nor install such hardware to any of their HP PCs anymore. Every PC in the world is "capable" of true 5.1 surround sound when it is from an added sound board/hardware designed to produce 5.1 sound! HP shouldn't be making 5.1 surround sound claims unless HP starts adding a statement of "additional hardware is REQUIRED in order for the PC to produce 5.1 sound output" from the HP PC. HP is now and has been doing so for many years of HP fraudulently claiming that their HP PCs produce 5.1 surround sound out of their box when they clearly don't and are not capable of producing 5.1 sound unless additional aftermarket hardware is added to the HP PCs. HP does the same thing with their HP extended warranties as the HP warranty coverage time-frames are a misrepresentation and is ALWAYS a year shorter than what HP states and titles them as. Every HP PC comes with a 1 year manufacturer's warranty (sometimes a 2 year warranty). HP extended warranties start at the date the PC was purchased and not the extended warranty purchase date. So if you buy a 3 year extended warranty it will only extend your warranty coverage for 2 years AFTER your included 1 year manufacturer's warranty as the first year of the "3 year HP warranty" runs concurrent with th1 year manufacturers warranty from the original date of the purchase of the HP PC.
