Only if it is a OEM install DVD, if it is a disk image that you burned from the old PC it will not work. OEM - vanilla Windows install the requires you to input the activation key, you also have to install drivers and system software manually. You can create a OEM image your self from a retail iso, there are instructions on how to do so if you search Google for it. Recovery Image - This can be created in 2 ways, using the HP recovery manager or through the Windows back up tool. This is like a snap shot of the hard drive and can not be used on any machine but the one that created it as it has the product key all ready activated for the particular machine. I hope this helps.
