Mr Jammer is mistaken as the HP website specifies for this model "8 GB DDR3L-1600 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB)" ... yes, with two slots - so one is open: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05157234
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This computer has one card of 8GBs DDR3, expandable to 16 GBs. There are two slots in total, one occupied by the 8 gigabyte card, one open slot.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is on one card with an open slot.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There are two slots. Max RAM is 16 GB, and only do cards with the same RAM (for best effect do 8 and 8)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.pretty much all laptops and pcs have all their memory slots filled when they are purchased. if they had an empty memory slot, you would get a blue screen with a memory error message. so to answer your question, it has 2 cards of 4gb ram installed. to upgrade you will need to buy 2 8gb ram cards of the type designated by the manufacturer. the person who says it has an empty slot and one 8gb card in it doesnt know what they are talking about. it is possible to buy just 1 8gb ram card and install it for 12gb of ram but not recommended as it can cause issues due to the imbalance of the system that causes.
