- Answer Thank you for the question. The Pavilion 14-ek0013dx specification indicates that the memory is "onboard", meaning soldered. While it can be upgraded, this would be a job for a trained technician. If by "internal space" you mean storage, yes, the drive could be switched out for one of higher capacity. Due to the Li-ion battery, we suggest that all upgrades be performed by professional technicians.

- Answer They're built into the computer. It's been quite a few years since batteries were accessible without disassembling the computer. Battery replacement can still be done, but it takes a trained technician to do the work.

QuestionIs the memory soldered or yoi can swap it if you remove the battery? Also does it have m.2 ssd or just regular ssd? And can you upgrade that ssd the regular way or more difficult than the average IT student can handle?

- Answer Hello, yes, this device can have the memory upgraded. There are two slots available and one is currently being used with the 8GB RAM. The SSD is an m.2. If you look under the area towards the bottom of the page you'll see 'From the Manufacturer" section which will populate graphics with additional information on graphics shown. HP recommends Crucial for purchasing and upgrading RAM and has tutorials on their site for replacing the RAM. Thank you for being an HP customer!

QuestionI’m looking for a computer that can do SSTV ( slow scan TV ). I believe the computer needs a internal sound card. SSTV is used in amateur radio. They connect the computer to the ham radio to receive images. Will this computer be good for that?

- Answer Hello MIke and thank you for asking. The HP 14-ek0013dx would work with slow scan TV software like MMSSTV except for the fact this laptop has Windows 11 Home in S Mode. You would need to take it out of S Mode to install SSTV software. The sound 'card' is soldered to the laptop motherboard. 73

QuestionI know you said you can hook an optical drive by USB, can you do that to THIS actual 2 in 1 computer? I am needing to install TurboTax but don't want to spend a lot of money on one with optical drive in it.

- Answer Yes, you can do that with this actual computer. It's got two USB-A ports, one of which can be used to hook an external CD/DVD drive to the computer.

- Answer Windows 7 does not have the necessary updates and support in order to work correctly with newer processors. - Answer This is my first laptop. I've never used a Mac so I don't know how it would compare. So far it's able to do everything I could do with my pc. The folks at Best Buy were very helpful answering my questions and directing me to this one. It's small enough to be portable but powerful, and it was in my price point (under $500 on sale). Nice 2-in-1 feature that lets you flip the screen and use it like a tablet or to watch videos. Good look finding what you need.

- Answer I'm in my 70's and this is my first laptop. It has Microsoft and outlook, built in webcam.I have had offers from Microsoft for additional programs to add but nothing I needed to add at this time. I like the small size so it will be portable enough to take along on family visits. Easy to see and easy to use.

QuestionDoes this computer have a backlight to work in the dark

- Answer You can brighten and darken the screen and the keyboard does have a back light on it that can be turned on and off from the keyboard itself. When it is dark it is better to reduce the light on the screen to lessen eye strain as it is not competing with light from other sources and since it has a backlit keyboard, you do not need the screen to light up the keys to see it.
