- Answer The battery might be dead or your computer power supply might be bad. If it is a older computer might have a cmos battery dead. Leaving laptop plugged in and not using can kill the battery also.

- Answer Hi Deb - Yes, you can use just the keypad without using the touchscreen. And yes, it works the same as your deaktop computer, assuming your desktop computer is on Windows operating system. Hope this info helps.
