Firstt - make sure the volume is up on the taskbar next to the clock and also in whatever app you are using. Are you sure sound is actually playng? It may be that the sound drivers are not installed properly or defective. If you go to youtube, does the video play as if the sound were working? If it does - the drivers are installed and the computer thinks the sound is playiing. Try headphones to see if it is the speakers. I'm pretty sure the computer is warrantied by HP for a year so the Geek Squad may fix it for free. Most of the geeks like to prove they know more than you - use that to your advantage.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. On the Start Screen with all the tiles, look for the little magnifying glass Icon up on the top right, click on it and type in "sound" A panel will come up underneath with a number of choices. Look for the icon you usually associate with sound in Windows and see what the settings are under all the tabs. Hopefully you will find something there. There is also a sound control for headphones next to the the headphone jack on left side of the keyboard toward the front.

If you’re past the return date write to Logitech, tell them your issue, and they should replace it. BBY may swap it out even if you are past the return date as well. Both are pretty good with that sort of thing.
