A: Once it is opened past a certain point, never measured about 180 degs, it disables the keyboard and touch pad.
A: The battery is an internal component. You can't just pop it in and out. It only holds one memory DIMM, but the repair manual lists a part number for an 8GB DIMM, so I'm sure it can be upgraded. However, it seems to run just fine with only 4GB.
