If you only need black, it doesn't make sense to pay the premium for a color laser printer. Monochrome laser printers are much more cost-effective to purchase, and the cost per page on the toner will be lower as well. Yes, you can print in black and white with this printer and save the color for if/when you need it. But you do need to keep all the cartridges installed.
