• The mic is detachable, and there is no inline control for muting or adjusting volume. If there's some way to mute the mic, other than pulling it out of the socket, I haven't discovered that yet. I guess the benefit is you can use them for listening to music, without looking like a nerd.

• you can just unplug the mic from the headset
