I did take it apart as I had to return the first one I purchased. I don't recall having any issue taking the base off. I may have pressed in on the clips, but it released with no problems.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I removed the base stand quite easily by removing the screws. I ruined my Toshiba stand because I did not read the directions, so be careful and read the instructions to removed it.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.We use our 19" in our guest bedroom, and also in our camper, in the bedroom it is on the stand, and in the camper it is hung up. So yes, the stand can be removed, it takes a little giggling to get it to move the first time, but after a few uses, its just off and on, no problem. Good luck
