Most drives work at or near full speed with USB2, for example a decent 7200 RPM drive works at about 150 MBPS either internally or externally. You don't need gigabit speeds for an external drive...
A:AnswerI am using mine with a Samsung 870 QVO 2TB Internal 2.5” SATA III Solid State Drive. No problems with a Mac Mini. (Except it takes longer to power up from a cold start than the computer likes - so unless I keep it powered by using an external powered USB hub it doesn't like to boot the machine. I suspect this is related to the drive, not the enclosure.)
