Just plug it in to a usb port on your computer.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Pretty simple. With the power switch on the back in the off position, connect the external power cord and plug into an outlet. Connect the provided USB cord from the back to a USB port on your computer (USB 3.0 preferred). You can turn it on at this point as it is a "hot-swappable" system or you can put your drives in and then turn it out. Either way, they should auto mount and you can see them in explorer. With power on or off, depress the button on the side next to the drive you wish to eject to remove it. NOTE: With HDDs, let the drive spin down after the button is pressed to remove it. The platters are spinning at a high rate and moving them in this condition can cause them to wobble and collide with the internal parts, damaging the drive. It takes less than a minute, but worth the caution.)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I plugged it into my laptop and inserted the hard drive like a video game cartridge. My laptop is running a version of Linux. When I used a windows computer, I kept receiving a message that the drive needed to be formatted. I was using it to retrieve data from a computer that crashed.
