  • QuestionI'm having two issues with the audio on this tv. The RF antenna has a loud static sound when using the a sound bar via the optical output but normal audio when using the tv speakers. Second, the optical audio output is low, is there a way to increase?

    Asked by peer89.

    • Answer Probably need to run the optical audio to an amplifier that has some sort of filtering on it to get rid of the static noise. This will also help with your output being too low. Might also want to look at some sort of filtering on the audio input on from the RF antenna (not sure which ones you using so can't tell/recommended).

  • QuestionWHAT HEADPHONES ARE AVAILABLE FOR THIS TV?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Hello Best Buy customer Anonymous! I'm happy that I could submit this response after only some seven (7) hours of you posting your question as this is a really great TV set! I realize that you are inquiring about which headphones are available for use with this TV; however, you can use "wired" headphones which are available in many different types or you can use Bluetooth/wireless headphones. There "may be" other categories which I am not even aware of! This Insignia 43" LED TV model has a 3.5mm female audio out jack. Also, please keep in mind that if your headphones of choice has a 1/4" male connect there are 1/4" to 3.5mm adapters which would facilitate the connection to this TV with no problem and these adapters are really inexpensive. If you use "wired" headphones like I do, you could always incorporate a shorter "coiled" 3.5mm male to female extension and leave it connected at all times (if you so desire) to the headphone jack located in the rear of this TV and you could leave it resting toward the center of the base of the TV--away from the TV's legs! This way you would be less like to do damage to the TV like if you had to connect and disconnect the "wired" headphones each time that you chose to use them. You could also add an "additional" 3.5mm male to female wired extension to that if anyone using the headphones were sitting further away. Of course, they would have to be careful not to trip on the extension cable(s) at all times! Because there are so many different types of headphones and the final decision would be that of yours and other Best Buy customers, I conducted a GOOGLE search for you and I used the search term => "types of wired headphones." There were several entries; however, a few interested me most as I thought that they might best be of help to you and other Best Buy customers. Here are some of the entry "titles" => (1) Headphone Buying Guide - Best Buy (they give you a "link" to click onto for your review!), (2) Different Types of Headphones Explained in Precise Detail, and (3) How to buy headphones - CNET. Again, there are other entries covering this topic! Whenever you want only sound to come out of the headphones, with this TV, you can go into MENU => AUDIO => TV SPEAKERS => select "ON" if you want the sound to be heard from the TV's external speakers or you can select "AUTO" so that sound can "only" be heard through the headphones. This way it would "not" be necessary to keep plugging in the headphones and removing same each time that you wanted to change the TV's audio functionality. You can also use Bluetooth headphones with this TV! I did a did GOOGLE and YouTube.com searches for: "How to Connect Bluetooth Wireless Headphones to any TV." As I indicated above, this TV (a lot of TVs don't have this feature any more!) has a 3.5mm female audio out jack. You can incorporate/connect a 3.5mm male Bluetooth "TRANSMITTER" ("NOT" a Bluetooth "RECEIVER" please!) and plug it into this 3.5mm female audio out jack on the back of the TV. I've never used Bluetooth or wireless headphones; however, the YouTube videos are short in length (and there are several different videos which you can choose to review) and they provide guidance. Also, Best Buy sells a 3.5mm male Bluetooth transmitter on their website and I've provided an image of it below in the recommended Best Buy products section. Perhaps, this product comes with instructions for set up or, perhaps, the YouTube videos might help you or, perhaps, someone at Insignia Products tech support or a home theater Best Buy sales associate might tell you how to get everything to work in sync. Insignia Tech support representatives are available at 1-877-467-4289 from 8:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. 7 days per week. Your question will not only help address your future headphone use decision issues, but also other Best Buy customers as well as everyone has different headphone preferences Best Buy customer Anonymous--from earbud headphones to the "potentially" more bulky/richer sounding over-the-ear headphones, etc. I also provided an image of a "coiled" 3.5mm male to female extension which neatly tucks out of the way (I'm not endorsing any brand here!) and another "straight" 3.5mm male to female extension cable (the length is the user's choice!) so that a person using "wired" headphones can sit further away. I hope that my attempt to answer your question helps you and other Best Buy customers Anonymous! Happy future listening!

  • QuestionMy mom has issues with her hearing. If i get a headset device to hear the fv through bluetoorg. Id it compatiable?

    Asked by Heaeing.

    • Answer Hello Best Buy customer Heaeing! I think that it is really caring of you to be concerned of your mother's needs regarding her hearing issues. Someone "already" provided an answer to your question and, although I am sure that they were well intentioned, their indication of this TV not being Bluetooth enabled (although correct) there are "other" options for you to enable your mother (and others!) to be able to use headphones--both Bluethooth and wired ones! I'm happy that I could submit this response only after eight (8) hours of you posting your question as this is a really great TV set! I realize that you are inquiring about how to use Bluetooth headphones; however, did you ever consider using a 3.5mm male to female "coiled" extension cable which would remain plugged into the back of the TV at all times and you could have that extension cable extending from below the TV somewhere between both legs so that there is no chance of it pulling on any of those legs. If you use "wired" headphones like I do, you could always add an "additional" extension to that if anyone using the headphones were sitting further away. Of course, they would have to be careful not to trip on the extension cable(s) at all times! Whenever your mother wants only sound to come out of the headphones, you can show her how to go into MENU => AUDIO => TV SPEAKERS => select "ON" if you want the sound to be heard from the TV's external speakers or she can select "AUTO" so that sound can "only" be heard through the headphones. This way it would not be necessary to keep plugging in the headphones and removing same each time that you wanted to change the audio functionality. Again, you "did" ask if this TV was Bluetooth compatible so I spent some time trying to find an answer for you. I did a did GOOGLE and YouTube.com searches for: "How to Connect Bluetooth Wireless Headphones to any TV." As I indicated above, this TV (a lot of TVs don't have this feature any more!) has a 3.5mm female audio out jack. Your question Best Buy customer Heaeing I am sure will not only help your mother, but also other Best Buy customers as not everyone likes having extra wires to deal with as is the case with wired headphones. I also provided an image of a "coiled" 3.5mm male to female extension which neatly tucks out of the way (I'm not endorsing any brand here!) and another "straight" 3.5mm male to female extension cable (the length is the user's choice!) so that a person using wired headphones can sit further away. I know that you only asked about Bluetooth connectivity, but it might help others thinking about using "wired" headphones.

  • QuestionMy only concern with these new TV's is speaker output. I don't want a soundbar as I have two side-by-side and this one with swivel. Loud enough to hear 8' away clearly without having to crank the volume?

    Asked by Speakers.

    • Answer In my opinion, this has a very good sound system as is. It is much better than any previous TV I have had in many years. If you want big volume, you need a sound bar. If you want good clear sound without blasting up the volume, I think you will be satisfied with this set.

  • QuestionHow do I hook up a Bluetooth headset

    Asked by Joe.

    • Answer Hello Best Buy customer Joe and thank you for asking this question as an answer may help a lot of other Best Buy customers who want to connect a Bluetooth headset to this TV as well! To find an answer to your question, I first went on YouTube.com and then on Bing.com. Insignia is one brand that "still" offers a 3.5mm headphone jack on their television sets and from what I've seen not a lot of companies offer this feature any more. On both of those websites (i.e., YouTube.com and Bing.com), I entered the search term=> Bluetooth Transmitter Adapter For TV. I have provided images of two below for your review although I am not endorsing any brand as I've never used Bluetooth headsets so I am not familiar with their functionality--sorry! I also found you a similar item on the Best Buy website; however, in "all" cases please confirm with a knowledgeable source that these applications are right for you and will meet your needs. I also saw items in this category which are referred to as => "Bluetooth transmitters for TV using HDMI;" however, I'd recommend asking people that are more tech savvy about their application for what you want to do Best Buy customer Joe!

  • QuestionI have this tv and it loses the picture on all channels frequently, the sound is there but no picture. I have to turn it off and back on to get a picture. What could be wrong?

    Asked by Mike.

    • Answer Hello Best Buy customer Mike! According to this website, you submitted your question some eleven (11) days ago. There "is" the option to return this great TV set--if you are within the return period and there is also a one year warranty with this and other Insignia TV products; however, I would like to offer the following which "may" be of some help to you and other Best Buy customers. This 43" Insignia TV set (Model: NS-43D420NA18 | SKU: 5886208) has such a high degree of functionality! I would suggest that "prior" to making any moves to return this TV that you immediately use your TV's remote control and go into MENU and then go into SETTINGS and then scroll down to TIME and click the "okay" button on the remote control and then scroll down to SLEEP TIMER and then make sure that it is set to "OFF"--if this is what you want to do. In the process of doing the above, you may also learn the "actual" shut off time which your TV is currently set to and that would give you insight concerning your particular automatic(?) or predetermined shut down issue. You can also select some other shut off time. For your peace of mind, you can always make an appointment Online with the Geek Squad to bring the TV in-store to let them check the TV out. I offer this as in the past Insignia tech support informed me that it is the Geek Squad who is involved in the repair process of their TV's. Your TV "should" be covered by factory warranty, but inquire first. Also, because of the larger size of this TV, an in-house diagnostic option may be available at no cost; however, I am not sure about that. Check first please! Also, please check out "all" of the information which I have provided by phoning a live Insignia tech support representative between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 9:00 P.M. Central time--seven (7) days per week. Again, thank you for your question as your concerns which you presented and any attempts to address same may help a lot of other people Best Buy customer Mike.

  • QuestionTV is not powering up. what can i do?

    Asked by teamster830.

    • Answer Hello Best Buy customer teamster830 and thank you for asking this question as an answer might help not only yourself, but some other Best Buy customers as well. Another Best Buy customer had a similar issue and in my attempt to provide an answer I checked for an on<>off power button located on my "same" model TV's chassis; however, I could find no such button. First, I would tackle what may be considered the "obvious" causes concerning your inability to power this TV on. Try replacing the batteries on the TV's remote control with fresh "quality" batteries. In the process of battery replacement, after you remove the remote control's battery compartment cover, try conducting a "visual" inspection and see if the remote control's connectors which make contact with the installed batteries will, in fact, be able to contact the installed batteries on a "consistent" basis. For example, in the past, when I've dropped my vehicle's remote key fob, the metal contact prongs shifted and they no longer were in the position to make contact with the installed batteries making the remote inoperable. I had to "gently" bend them back. Also, I make it a practice to connect my electrical appliances to power strip "surge" protectors and sometimes the "re-set" button needs to be re-activated. I would "unplug" your TV prior to doing the aforementioned--as a safeguard! Also make certain that your in-wall electrical wall outlet is functional--sometimes circuit breakers get "tripped" to off! After all of that (i.e., if your efforts did not produce results), I would phone Insignia Products--prior to returning the TV to the store, The Insignia tech support phone number is 1-877-467-4289 and they are available between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 9:00 P.M. central time--seven (7) days per week. Your TV is only three (3) weeks old as of this writing! They "may" offer to send you a new remote control at no cost; however, that is up to them. If you get a new remote (I like the Insignia Remote model NS-RMT415 and I purchase it "separately"), I'd recommend installing fresh quality batteries like Duracell prior to use--if you so desire. Another option you have is to go on Best Buy's website and make an in-store appointment with Geek Squad as I was told by Insignia Tech Support that it is the Geek Squad which handles their Insignia Brand TV repairs. Because of the larger size of this TV, you may be eligible for a no-cost in-home service appointment; however, I would definitely check things out first. You would not want to experience any unnecessary expenses! It is my belief that whatever happens if you take the above measures that you will end up with a functional TV set which is what you want. I can't address anything that may have voided the great Insignia Products (Best Buy) warranty, but I wish the best for you Best Buy customer teamster830. You will find the Insignia tech support representatives to be so very knowledgeable and, as importantly to me when I've experienced my many encounters with their representatives, they are patient and make you feel welcome as an Insignia Products purchaser. Respectfully offered, my experience has been that Insignia tech support representatives want so much to make certain that your problem is solved that they often have placed my calls on hold--just to go that "extra" mile to obtain a solution if one were obtainable. Because the "user manual" is not available for this particular Insignia 43" TV model Online on InsigniaProducts.com, you might want to ask the Insignia tech support representative to forward one to you via E-mail for your future reference. Their user manuals are the most user friendly product guides which I've every encountered. It's really great that Best Buy would make this "forum" available to its customers as it serves as an opportunity to help one another--even when addressing issues that may be viewed as being problematic in nature.

  • QuestionHow to get sound from my laptop to tv using the optical cord

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Hello Best Buy customer Anonymous. I spent a significant amount of time conducting GOOGLE searches for such phrases as "how to connect a digital optical (i.e., Toslink) cable to a laptop computer" and "is it possible to connect a Toslink cable to a laptop computer." There "appears" to be some way"s" to accomplish this task--perhaps through your 3.5mm jack or USB ports with the help of adapters; however, it was stressed quite frequently throughout my search of this topic in an attempt to answer your question that the best way would be to use a male<>male "HDMI" cable connection. This is what I use and I have great results! They say that it is best to use HDMI cables with brass (gold colored) connectors and also ones that have "chokes" near each end as the chokes are more likely to lessen any chance of electrical interference. If your computer only has a VGA connector, there is a an adapter to convert VGA to HDMI I am most certain. I listen to lots of music and other "sound" sources from YouTube.com, Bing.com., etc. played "from" my laptop through this 43" Insignia TV. For some reason, I have found that when I have the laptop's volume set at a "constant" 100 out of 100 and I connect the HDMI cable to the TV's HDMI ARC1 port, I get louder volume than if I were just using this TV's sixteen (16) watts total of speakers alone. Also, when using the HDMI ARC1 connection, you can control "both" the volume of the laptop and the TV with one press of a button. Try entering a favorite song title on YouTube.com and prior to the song beginning to play, conduct a GOOGLE search for song title followed by the word lyric. I select "AZ Lyrics" or "Genius Lyrics" and then I start the music video and read the lyrics' wording. I was surprised to quickly learn that songs that I heard and loved for decades which I "thought" that I knew all of the words to--I did not! Happy listening Anonymous!
