• Don't know the answer to your question, BUT....the unit senses the impurities in the air and then adjusts its speed accordingly to remediate the situation. One of our units is in the kitchen/dining area and usually reads number 007 and fluctuates a little up and down - unless of course you fry something, and then it spikes for awhile and eventually comes back down. The one in the bedroom stays around 001-003 and never really changes. We leave them both on all the time and have esperienced significant allergy relief.
