Q: QuestionThe specifications say No overload protection - isn't that the same as surge protection? Is there any connected equipment guarantee or do you just hope it works?
Asked by GJ.
- A:Answer Hi GJ, There is a difference between surge protection and overload protection. Overload protection, which is what this device has, will disconnect the load (trip the breaker) if the total current exceeds the individual (or combined) outlet rating (in this case 15 amps per outlet). Q: QuestionCan this replace a GFCI receptical?
Asked by RIBBS.
- A:Answer While it can be a slave to another outlet with GFI circuitry (typically one GFI will protect more than one outlet in newer homes), it does not replace the GFI function.

Q: QuestionDoes this unit use electricity when nothing is plugged into it?
Asked by Integral.
- A:Answer Like a TV, it "uses" a very small amount of electricity to power a small LED all the time, but this is actually to help it use up less energy after things are unplugged, and to indicate that the surge protector is working. I'd say the energy slip is pretty negligible though. Probably uses less energy than your lights and ceiling fans use in a few minutes.

Q: QuestionHow many joules is the surge protector?
Asked by BlueBoy.
- A:Answer The more important question is what is the clamping voltage and is proper surge protection wired in. Clamping voltage is 500V which is not great and it only has L-N protection, which is very limited.

Q: QuestionThe spec describes it as a two output surge-protected charger. What makes this a "hub?
Asked by Pssst3.

Q: QuestionWhat is the maximum charging rate when using only one port? i.e. does it limit itself to protect devices or rely on devices to protect themselves.
Asked by Grumble.
- A:Answer Hello there, Thank you very much for buying our In wall 3.6A Surge Protector USB Hub. Regarding your inquiries I wanted to let you know this device provides up to 2.4A per USB port and the surge protection is placed between the power input to the outlet and the AC-DC power supply. It works just like plugging a USB charger into a surge protector. We want you to fully enjoy this and other Insignia products. Arely R. - Insignia Support.
