The included sensor is meant to detect when the door is vertical or horizontal. All operations are based on the current sensor status so I doubt it can be used with another sensor.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The sensor attaches to the door itself and I get “Door Opened” and “Door Closed” messages. A sliding door position wouldn’t be detected. It seems that the sensor uses a special “pairing” connection to the door opener device so using a different sensor wouldn’t probably work. I haven’t tried using the opener without the sensor but I suspect it is required since the door position changes the behavior: Closing the door gives a warning beforehand while opening doesn’t.
