This headset doesn't work with a standard controller by itself. You need the Microsoft - Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter. If you have the adapter it will work. You don't need the adapter if you have an XBox One S controller.

No. It is only with the 2nd generation controller for the x box one. However, it also works with the PS 4 controller. I hope this helps.

I got the adapter and this headset to replace the Xbox one headset. It should work with any 3.5mm headset pug. The old controller I believe has to have an adapter. It's worth it though. The adapter comes with a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter as well. Then you can have more options.
