• no you can use what ever payroll you want must import to quickbooks though

• Your old version and new version should all sync. No need to re-purchase payroll package.

• You can get the upgrade but it won't update the payroll file. That is updated yearly by quick Books for changes to the w-2s and 1099 and the employer fed tax forms.
