A: You receive updates from time to time from Quickbooks but other than that you do not have to change packages until you decide to. Payroll updates are charged for unless you pay for a update subscription for payroll but as for the package itself it is good until you decide to replace it. I used Quick Books 2008 until this year without any problems.
Q: Does Quickbooks have to be used online
A: NO. You have to get your payroll updates from them online but the rest of it is done on your computer. I don't store my backup on line. I store it on my harddrive and then make a flash drive copy to keep off site.
Q: does this version include payroll or can payroll be added at a later time, if desired
A: Payroll is extra..... A lot extra..... It is like 150 for the package and about a 5 or 10 dollars a person per pay period. Find a good accountant or local payroll service Too many things can go wrong, and the penalties will cost WAY MORE then either choice

A: QuickBooks Pro 2015 (Windows) does include inventory management functionality.
