Federal is free to transmit but it depends on the state if you have to pay to transmit them. I pay to transmit New Jersey but not for New York. It costs $22 to transmit NJ.

I have used TurboTax for numerous years and have NEVER had to pay additional for e-filing my State Taxes. The Federal e-file as well as 1 state e-file is included for EACH individual tax return that is submitted. I do complete taxes for myself and my mother and neither has additional fees for e-filing. (Perhaps in different states it is different but I do not see why this would be the case. The software INCLUDES the 1 state e-file option. If you need to do more than one state then perhaps you pay but that I never needed to do). Good luck.
