No. I listen to my CDs without issue. Use common sense though, when removing the CD, remove the phone holder first!

I have a Sony head unit purchased from BestBuy and have had no damage. Have had installed for over a month, using daily. Just be sure to read installation instructions as I needed to when installing. Magnet is strong, but not too strong. This helps and gave me peace of mind when worrying about damaging my CD player when removing phone.
