It will transition well. We have a pretty steep jump between hardwood and tile kitchen. It went over it well

Braava will not go from our slate tile to the hardwood floors because of a raised divider strip which is about a quarter of a inch high. to get the Braava go to the hardwood from the tile we have to physically pick it up and reset it. hope this helps. we love the robot. we purchased the IRobot 980 for all the house. we live in a 1 story house.
