I didn't think they sounded that good and the person I called said I sounded very static-y.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The quality of sound is really good and no it really doesn't hurt your ears I took a few phone calls including the phone interview for new job and they heard me perfectly. I wouldn't recommend being outside or near an air vent though.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No, the buttons don't hurt your ears when you push them. They are buttons but you don't have to press hard and their location means you're not pushing the earphones into your ears. - I own it.

As far as comfort while puching the buttons, I have never hear anyone mention any pain while interacting with the buttons on the headphones, but everyone is different.
