i believe since they are meant to be worn with the cord behind your neck and/or under your hair that is why they are designed that way..though i thought it funny in the beginning i have gotten used to it very quickly.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I found this to work well when I put short side in first then ran longer side behind my neck to other ear. Seemed to distribute the weight of the cord better and didn’t pull the earbuds out when moving around.
