A:Answer I am not sure I fully understand the question but will take a chance at answering with the hope of being helpful....
First of all, not all Keurigs use a filter so make sure that your machine is one that does!
You should have two pieces--The long plastic piece is to be placed in the empty or nearly empty water reservoir. At the bottom of that long piece there is a "receptacle" that holds the little charcoal filter. (note:The filter requires soaking/rinsing before installation.)
The second piece, the disposable filter, just sets right into the bottom of that long plastic piece. You put the filter in the long plastic piece, then into the filter hole in the bottom of the water tank. The plastic piece holds the filter under water to cleanse the water before it is pumped into the unit. I have the 5072 model filter which has a round loop at the top that has a rotating date wheel to help you remember when you need to replace it.
