“Has anyone noticed that the piece that covers the sides and top of the ice maker is not flush to the door? Are you suppose to see the insulation underneath on the sides and top or is this some type or part or manufacturing issue? Have you encountered?”

Yes. We own this one also and you can see the glue and insulation in places where it's not lined up or put together property. For the high cost, one would expect this fridge to be put together correctly and look high quality. It does not.
