“I can't tell from the photos or the description, is the glasstop glossy or matte finish? Also, since the cooktop apparently scratches easily, what type cookware does Kitchen Aid recommend?”

The finish is in between glossy and matte. It has a light shine to it. I wouldent say it scratches easily but it gets marks on it around the outer parts of the cooking element which normal detergents wont remove. Sorry cant help with how to get it off. I think this is common with glass cooktops though.
