“why does it only toast 1 side while not pressing the bagel button”

• Tell me about it. This must be a design flaw that they have yet to fix! I bought my toaster from Best Buy, but when it toasted everthing so poorly, I had to send it back to Kitchenaid. 2021- my 2nd replacement from them and I still can’t get both sides to toast the same. Only solution is to get a $100 credit and go out and spend more $ to buy another toaster. Others have complained of the same problem. Meanwhile, no toast at my house.

• Mine is working fine. I press the bagel and it only toasts the inside, but if not pressed, it toasts both sides. You must have a defect?
