This type of speaker lays on the large rectangular side (NOT the smaller side) and is aimed at the ceiling and angled toward the listener when put on top of tower type speakers (I have Klipsch 260F towers). With this configuration, the sound reflects off the ceiling to get to the listener which gives a height effect when driven by Dolby Atmos enabled receivers and of course content. You can also mount it on a side wall angled down, but unless you have 10 ft ceilings the height effect is not necessarily as pronounced.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you can set these on top of your floor speakers. That's how I have mine set up at the moment since I can't drill 2" or longer screws into our rental house in order to hang them on the wall. No the logos should NOT be upside down... You "lay" them on top of the floor stand speakers so that the "fattest" part or the Kipsch logo is towards the back of the floor speaker. This way the sound "bounces" off your ceiling directed towards your viewing couch.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The direction the speakers face when mounted standing height are what make them atmos. If you mount them seating level it will loose quality. I tested mine by setting them on my entertainment center and was a dramatic improvement when mounting them.
