There actually is no keyhole on the back. For some reason, Best Buy decided to put pictures of different speakers in for the imaging of the R-51.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The new models being sold no longer have the keyhole on them but to answer your question, yes it would make them sound awful. You can however use swivel mounts to mount them. I’ll attach a link to the mounts I used as a reference. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hmmm, they need to correct their picture of the rear of the speaker if they don't have a keyhole!! That's the reason I asked the question, it shows a keyhole....couldn't believe it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it does!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it would definitely affect the sound quality. I have mine six inches from the wall shelf mounted.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Absolutley! the port is there for air displacement and if it is blocked off the speaker will not perform the way it was designed to, resulting in poor sound quality.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I WOULD RECOMMEND PUTTING YOUR SPEAKERS ON SPEAKERS STANDS TO LET THE PORT HOLES BREATHE!!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The r-51m does not have a keyhole for mounting on the wall.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It will yes. How much? Put something flat up against it and listen.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The port is sized to expel a specific amount of air from the back-wave of the transducer. Translation? When the motor pulls the cone back air is compressed inside the enclosure. With no port it would be a sealed speaker but the cone excursion would be slowed and limited (not always a bad thing). In a speaker like this the bass port allows air to “huff” out the port, helping the motor/magnet to maintain control over the cone. Authority over the smoothness of the cone’s excursion is paramount for accurate reproduction. Always sonically anchor a Sub to the foundation/floor. Never block or impede the port; the speaker won’t work/sound correct.
