QuestionI did ask directv, they say it can be done, and suggest some western digital drives which are currently not in production any more. Has anyone done an ext drive with a directv receiver and what model, size worked best

- Answer Not sure what you want recommended. Are you asking whether this is the drive for your needs? I have this drive as a complete system and storage backup. I am buying a 2nd LaCie to backup the backup. I am thoroughly impressed with this drive. It suits my needs perfectly. Or, are you asking for a method of backup? I just use Apple's Time Machine, being 100% Mac-based. Good luck.

QuestionBest external drive to store DVDs.I'm looking to store my DVDs on an external hard drive. Currently I have around 600 DVDs. Randomly hunting on the web this model came up recommended (as did the 6TB WD My Cloud). I am not tech savvy, so I would like the easiest and most effective way to do this without having to call a friend. Also, how much space do I need? Is four TBs enough?

- Answer Assuming the DVD's are single layer the 600 DVD's should take up roughly 2.5TB's of space at roughly 4.5GB per disk.
