- Answer Yes. R9 graphic card has its own 4GB memory. and laptop has 8GB memory separately.

QuestionTDPClock speed is listed at 2.1Ghz. The FX-8800p is capable of 3.4Ghz at 35W. 2.1GHz is the clock for 15W. Did Lenovo throttle the chip like HP in the Envy? This massacres performance. Is this user configurable on the Lenovo?

- Answer The chip in this unit is limited to the 15w TDP unfortunately. Indeed performance suffers on this unit because of it. I'm guessing they have done this due to thermal concerns since this is a very thin gaming laptop. And no it is not configurable, you can't even install faster RAM than DDR3-1600. I installed 16GB of DDR3-2133 and have no way of getting it to run anything beyond 1600. Very disappointing that they have clamped down the performance of the chip/chipset like this.

- Answer Of course you can do school work on it. You can do school work on a bargain bin laptop. This unit should play CS:GO just fine since that is not exactly a new game that runs on an ancient engine. You can probably run it off of the integrated graphics just fine even.

QuestionWhat would be a good SSD to replace the SATA?I'm looking for a recommendation on an SDD to replace the SATA in this laptop and an approximate price please. I already plan on upgrading from the 8gb to 16gb once I get this in the mail.

- Answer I ended up adding a Samsung EVO m.2 250 Gb SSD on top of the included HDD. No need to replace IMO. Migrate Windows OS to SSD and you're good to go. I chose to stick with 8GB of ram because I haven't needed any more honestly.

- Answer My daughter plays Dragon Age on it. I'm not sure if the specs are the same. But it was important in choosing this laptop that she'd be able to play Dragon Age.

Questionmemory and solid state hard driveCan this laptop be bumped up to 16 gigs of ddr3? Also can this laptop be out fitted with a solid state hard drive? Last but certainly not least, if it can be upgraded does it have an access pannel underneith or must it be completely taken apart?

- Answer There are about 9 screws on the bottom panel to be removed and access the internals. Not hard to open. Ram is expandable up to 16GB. The HDD is replaceable itself, but an m.2 SSD can be added. I added a Samsung EVO 250GB SSD on top of the included SSD.

- Answer it is a 15w TDP proc so it is limited more so than it could be since these can go up to 25w.

- Answer The voice recording capability is average. It is not meant for high quality audio recording. Playback is dependent on the quality of the recording. Playback of quality audio recordings is very good. This system has JBL stereo speakers with a subwoofer and Dolby sound equalization.

- Answer https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad_y700-15_17isk_15acz_touch-15isk_hmm_201510.pdf?LinkTrack=Solr&#page=79 this hardware manual will tell you what kind of ram is required, how much you can upgrade to (max I think is 16gb) and which ram, are compatible. Make sure you buy non-ecc ram otherwise it will not fit the memory slots.
