It's a low power version of the Core series. It runs at a lower voltage and lower frequency, although it will increase its speed under load. My experience is that it makes the Yoga 3 Pro significantly slower than computers with a full Core i5.

Core M is a different family of processor - which is lower on power and better on battery life. The haswell and broadwell processors are low on power. the skylake ones launch recently are better on power too.
