- Answer Yes, the computer can play cd's and dvd's. It does not have a blue ray player.

- Answer Good, sure. It'd type documents, allow them to watch videos and surf the Internet, and even play games. Is it the best fit? Depends on the student. The laptop weighs 6.5+ pounds, so it'll be a behemoth to have to carry if commuting or to constantly carry across Campus. I'd only recommend this if the student will be minimizing the distance they have to carry the laptop. (Also I'm sure the battery will last between 4-6 hours)

QuestionLooking for a long term reliable system for home office, and large photo and music capacity. How does this Levano 8gb 1tb hold up? I am not clear on how the gb works outside the tb capacity for storage and performance

- Answer This system runs Windows 10 Home as its operating system, according to Microsoft, Windows 10 is the most stable operating system they have produced. If you keep you virus protection up to date there should be no problem there. Also this system uses an Intel Core I-7 processor. Intel is the #1 processor manufacturer in the world. The 8GB RAM is solid state, no moving parts, so it should last for at least 10 years. The 1TB hard drive should always be backed up on to an external archive drive.

QuestionCan I get an SSD installed in store without compromising the warranty?

- Answer If the work is done by a certified technician you factory warranty should be in tact. The caveat would relate to the replacement drive, but that should be warranted by the certified technician. Confirm that before you have the work done. Be sure it's in writing. Obviously, since the new drive is not OEM, it would not be covered by the original factory warranty.

- Answer The 80SM0058US is no longer shipped by Lenovo. It is a Windows 7 version, Intel Core I-5 processor, 15.6" screen with 8GB of RAM.

- Answer No, this system comes with Windows 10 Home as the pre-installed Operating System, but you can purchase the upgrade software for Windows 10 Pro at your Local Best Buy Store, then install the upgrade software.
