• You don't need to use the ice maker (I questioned the salesperson specifically about this same issue). I didn't have mine hooked up either and I just keep it turned off.

• It can be turned off or not connected, but cannot be removed from the freezer.

• I don't have a water line to hook up the ice maker..... I put ice cube trays in, and kept it up until I have enough ice in the ice bin until I need to add more ice .... not a problem - - freezes quite well and quickly. Mahvelous!!!
