Q: QuestionTo be NSF certified(NSF/ANSI 184), a dishwasher must: "Achieve a minimum 99.999% reduction of bacteria, reach a final rinse temperature of 150º, and unit operated on the sanitizing cycle". How does this dishwasher sanitize without a sanitize cycle?
Asked by LDFN4542SSanitize.
- A:Answer Great question! For your reference the NSF certification, the steam model dishwashers the NSF is tested during the steam function, for non-steam models the NSF is tested during the high temp cycle. If the high temp option is added to the cycle, the indicator light will stay lit while the temperature get to 150 degrees and the dishes are properly sanitized. ^Jennifer

Q: QuestionDoes this dishwasher have the side pieces that flip down to hold wine glasses?
Asked by CherylB.
- A:Answer Model LDFN4542S does not have a special rack to long stem glassware. Place cups and glasses in the rows between the rack tines. Placing them over the rack tines can lead to breakage and water spots. To avoid chipping, do not let stemware touch other items. ^Daphane

Q: QuestionIs there a heating element in the bottom of this model? I'd like to be able to put plastics on any rack, like my friend's Bosch allows. Is this model "top rack only" for plastics?
Asked by DW.
This question was asked about the related product: LG - 24" Front Control Built-In Stainless Steel Tub Dishwasher with 3rd Rack, QuadWash, and 48dba - Black
- A:Answer This efficient drying system does not use a heating element during the drying process resulting in superior energy efficiency and gentle care for dishes. It is to use a liquid rinse aid improves drying performance by allowing water to drain off of dishes after final rinse. Use the upper rack for small or delicate items such as small plates, cups, saucers, glasses, and dishwasher-safe plastic items. In general, do not wash plastic items unless they are marked "dishwasher safe" or the equivalent. For plastic items not so marked, check the manufacturer’s recommendations. ^Daphane

- A:Answer Yes. But you can just leave it in too. I’ve only used mine once so far. At first the taller glasses wouldn’t fit with the 3rd rack in, but all I did was lower the 2nd rack one level, and now they fit without having to take the top rack out.
