The Cable HDMI - USB C from Apple is not compatible with 4k...
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You are correct in that you can not connect to a 2017 MacBook Pro with HDMI with out buying a adapter, Apple sells the USB-C to Multiport adapter for this. You could save money and buy a single USB-C to Displayport or USB-C to HDMI adapter for under $20 from other manufacturers online. Other option is to get the other LG display that is almost identical to the LG 27UD69 that has a USB-C port, the LG 27UD88 but I want to warn that there may be connect problems with the wake up from sleep on that monitor and is $200 more in price. This monitor is a bargain and will work fine for you with the adapter. I have an older MacBook Pro 2012 and have hooked up the HDMI cable and works fine, but I can only output at 1920X1080 due to old display chip in MacBook. Hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The LG 27" Class 4K UHD IPS LED Monitor (27" Diagonal), Model # 27UD69P-W, will come with either an HDMI cable or a Display Port cable as an included accessory. If your packaging included an HDMI Cable, then it will not have included a Display Port cable which means you would need to purchase that separately...^IFV

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can still use a displayport cable to output your mac to the display. You may have to buy an adapter in order for it to plug into your mac.
