How do you change the brightness and contrast? null

Click on the SETTINGS button on remote to adjust the Brightness & Contrast

I put the Picture Mode on Standard and that gave a good color and picture.

The Picture mode settings in the TV menu for the LG Full HD 1080p LED TV - 49" Class (48.5" Diag), Model # 49LJ510M have individual settings for Backlight, Contrast, Brightness, Sharpness, Color, Tint, and Color Temperature that you can use to fine-tune the picture. Follow SETTINGS > PICTURE > Picture Mode > Backlight / Contrast / Brightness / Sharpness / Color / Tint / Color Temp...^IFV
