If you look closely there SEEMS to be an optical audio output but it really isn't; It just LOOKS like it is. The plug LOOKS like optical but is a service port. I believe there are several ways to work around this problem including but not limited to an A/V amplifier with a "pass through", a DVD player with wired or wi-fi audio outputs, a cable box with audio outputs, etc.
