when starting a load and water coming into machine   (9 Answers)

After I push the start button the water starts drawing in and then a loud stop and start several times before water level is reached and then starts to wash. Is this normal? Have only used on the express wash with new sheets and wanted to ask before using again.

      Answer

Hi Kat, Thank you for your inquiry. When you wash your clothes in the LG 5.2 Cu. Ft. 14-Cycle Mega-Capacity High-Efficiency Steam Top-Loading Washer, Model # WT5680HVA, after you have turned the machine on and selected your cycles, within five minutes of selecting your cycle, you will have to press the START/PAUSE button to begin the cycle. The lid will lock and then the machine will agitate briefly without water to weigh the clothes. This is normal. You mentioned something about a "loud stop!" How loud is it? You might want to keep an eye on that. It is normal for the machine to make a sound when it stops, but you will know from the sound as to whether or not it needs servicing or repair...IFV

  • Question
    Reliability of WT5680HWA   (2 Answers)

Consumer Reports gave this washer a really high rating but failed to give it a recommended status because they said that the LG TOP LOADERS have a bad repair history. I think this is a relatively new machine but for those who has owned this for a while, how do you find its reliability... any repair issues yet?

      Answer

Ours was defective from day one. It took almost 2 months to resolve the issue. Our machine still does not wash clothes very well at all. We are very disappointed.

It varies widely depending on load size and which wash cycle you choose. Cotton/normal cycle with an average load size takes around 40 minutes.

How loud (in decibles) is this machine   (5 Answers)

My washroom is right next to my TV room. The specs for this machine does not list the decibels. Does LG make a quieter washer? That's NOT a front loader.

          Answer

I don't know how loud in decibels specifically, but it's not terribly loud. The filling and draining portion of the cycle has the most noise, but both are fast. My desk sits just outside of the laundry room and with the door closed, it's not at all bothersome, and I'm very sensitive to noise.

Wash Cycle is rotating very slow   (7 Answers)

Just had this washer delivered yesterday. The wash cycle barely moves the clothes around. Is it working correctly? The spin cycle is great. Put towels in and placed on the towels setting...towels did not get sucked down to the bottom...just barely moved back and forth during wash time. Is this how the machine supposed to work or do I need to return it?

            Answer

Yes, The machine starts off slowly to determine the weight and the load size. It is a high efficiency machine, so it takes the time to recognize the load to prevent wasting time or water. It will start slow but in the middle of cycles you should see it move a bit faster. The bottom of the washer spins independently from the sides. You might not even realize that the bottom of the drum is moving as much as it is. Also, make sure to use "he" (high efficiency) marked detergent and not the regular stuff.

              Answer

The temperature coming from your hot and cold water faucets will determine how hot or how cold the water being used in the ENERGY STAR® Qualified LG - 5.0 Cu. Ft. 14-Cycle High-Efficiency Steam Top-Loading Washer - White, Model # WT5680HWA is and all temperature variations in between. This washer has 5 wash temperatures, Extra Hot, Hot, Warm, Cold and Tap Cold. All rinses are use Tap Cold water and the temperature depends on the temperature of the cold water at the faucet. The Hot setting will be as hot as what you have your water heater set at. Whether you have a gas or electric water heater, the default temperature set from the factory will be between 120ºF to 140ºF. It is estimated that the average water heater temperature is set to 130ºF in the United States. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) recommends setting your water heater at 120ºF. OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration), on the other hand, recommends setting your water heater thermostat at 140ºF under certain circumstances. For the Sanitary cycle, the internal heating element increases the temperature of incoming water to over 160ºF and is capable of killing dust mites, germs, and bacteria and carries the National Sanitation Foundation, or “NSF Certified” label. For the cycles that introduce the Steam option such as the Tub Clean, Heavy Duty, Bulky Bedding, BrightWhites™, and Allergiene™ cycles, water turns to steam at 212ºF at standard temperature and pressure...^IFV

The water pressure in my home isn't very good, will this cause a problem with a new washer?   (6 Answers)

              Answer

Your inquiry is appreciated! The water supply pressure for the LG 5.2 cubic foot 14-cycle Mega-Capacity High-Efficiency Steam, Top-Loading Washer Model # WT5680HWA should be between 14.5 psi (100~800 kPa). If its higher than 16 psi then you will have to install a pressure reducing valve. If on the other hand, the pressure is lower than 14.5 psi, your washing may take longer and the performance and efficiency of the washer definitely will be affected. Definitely reach out to a qualified plumber to get this rectified. You might even get pipe knocking!...IFV
