Sadly, it does block it. I have a LG C9 and this very soundbar. Get yourself two 2x4s 20” in length. Glue them so they measure 8” x 20” stacked together. Wrap some black felt fabric and place it under the stand. It works nicely but we shouldn’t have to resort to this. Very poor design by LG.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The sound bar will not block the picture, and there are cut outs in the sound bar to slide over the base legs. But beware that you’ll need enough surface area on your table/stand for the base legs and the sound bar. I bought a TV stand from IKEA and the sound bar and LG TV barely fit on the top surface which is 15 1/2 inches. I would recommend a minimum surface of 18 inches.
