• A:Answer I have extreamly hard water where the soften runs constantly and the water still shoots rocks. I have just accepted the fact that any appliances using water will need to be replaced every 3 years or so because nothing helps.

• A:Answer Yes it does. It will spin back and forth a bit to "decide" how big your load is (giggidy) and then add the appropriate amount of water. Its been a tremendous help in our household.

With the lid up on the washer, from the ground I measured 58 inches and that is leaving a tiny gap, so I would say 57 to 58 inches with the lid open fully if you are measuring because of cabinets over them, etc.
