This tv is just fine as a regular TV. No internet required. It's just if you want to use all the features the tv offers you need the net

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. With assistance for a few times its a breeze to work. I believe you need WiFi for setup, not sure if you have to have it though. The remote allows you to switch from roku to cable TV. But every time he would have to pick an option
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. The Internet is extra (to use the app and etc.) and will not have any impact to your TV viewing. The picture quality is very clear and the sound is great quality. The minor issue maybe the Roju controller since it is tiny so the buttons maybe an issue. Also, the controller is not the "standard" remote that has numbers on it. In fact, it only has a number of buttons to perform simple task like scroll through channel selections using the up and down buttons. It take time to get acquainted to the controller features.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It will function as a regular cable/ dish or over the air TV. But the remote may be difficult to navigate, as it is set up for Roku & there are no numbers on it to switch channels... I wouldn't get this for my dad.
