“If a component video sources is connected to the TV with audio, Will the audio be sent out through the optical output? For example, if I connect a VCR to the component input will sound be transmitted trough the optical link to the sound bar? Thank you!”

No, the TV will only allow you to use in built in speakers. You have to switch the TV audio to HDMI and connect it to the optical HDMI port in the back of the TV.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.This is how we have our sound bar hooked up and it works perfectly with any source of input! We always choose optical hook up for our sound bar so we don't have to pick and choose what is hooked up to it. Hope this helps!
