QuestionFollow up to my earlier question about no audio. The online manual instructed me to connect the DVD player HDMI cable to the receiver and then the receiver to the TV. But my receiver is a pre HDMI model. Can I use a HDMI to phono plug converter?

- Answer In theory yes. However, it would be well worth it to think about upgrading to an HDMI receiver. You are missing out on all of the new Audio Formats. There are a lot of options in the mid $200 range which will also get you Bluetooth connectivity so you can more easily stream music or connect other devices directly to your system.

QuestionSwapped out my old CD/DVD player for the new LG model. There were no outputs on the new unit for the audio to connect to my receiver/speakers. The DVD plays, but I've got no sound. What am I doing wrong?

- Answer I would hook the speakers directly to the TV. The HDMI cable should transport the audio to the TV. Then the TV audio should process out to the speakers.

- Answer It is not a Vertical Mount Blu-ray Player and unlike Vertical Mount DVD Players, it does not have a snap-in wire piece that holds the disc in position. If you try to turn it vertical, the disc will slide out of position, and possibly jam in the player. ^Daphane

- Answer The other reason to connect it to a router is for firmware upgrades. If not used for streaming, only for playing discs, it does not need to be kept connected to the router.
