  • QuestionI just brought it home and plugged in the 2 speakers & the subwoofer into the main unit & played music from my phone but only got sound from the 2 speakers, absolutely nothing from the subwoofer. Any ideas?

  • QuestionCan I hook up additional LG speakers to this system? I have another sub and same type of speakers as this one. If I have 4 speakers and 2 subs wired in will it burn out the amp?

    • Answer The LG XBOOM 700W 2.1ch Mini Shelf System with Subwoofer and Bluetooth®, Model # CM4590 does not have additional ports for adding more speakers or another Subwoofer to it. The output amp is designed to output to the speakers that come with the unit. Both the Front Speakers and Subwoofer have an impedance of 3Ω so the total impedance that the amplifier sees is 12Ω. Adding two more speakers and a Subwoofer of the same impedance would up that total to 24Ω which is more than the amplifier is designed for. If the amplifier is overloaded, it will either turn itself off or reduce the power to protect itself. Speaker impedance changes amplifier power output. In fact, your amplifier power could be nearly half or double its capacity – depending on the impedance of your speakers. While speaker impedance changes amplifier power output, it is not a major consideration for most users. It only becomes relevant when running your amplifier at full power, and then it is best not to run it too close to its design limits. Speakers can be connected in series or in parallel. The maximum power output of an amplifier is dependent on the amplifier design and total load impedance of the speakers connected to it. In summary, halving the total impedance (by doubling the number of speakers in parallel) can increase the power output of an amplifier. In theory halving the load impedance will double the power output of an amplifier. In practice this is rarely achievable. Even if the power output is doubled, that would only increase the perceived volume by about 25%...^IFV

  • QuestionIs this system capable of accepting 2 additional speakers so it can be used indoor & outdoor at the same time? If not, is there a way to wire in 2 additional speakers?

    • Answer The speaker input jacks accept wires only. So that means you can connect multiple speakers. I have 6 speakers connected to my unit for an awesome surround sound. The Sub Woofer port only accepts a special type connector that they have connected to the sub woofer provided with the system.

    • Answer The LG XBOOM 700W 2.1ch Mini Shelf System with Subwoofer and Bluetooth®, Model # CM4590 is comprised of two separate front speakers, a main unit, (i.e. receiver), and a Subwoofer. They do not attach together to make one unit. The dimensions for the front speakers (W x H x D) are 10.5" x 12.4" x 9.2", those for the Subwoofer are 10.5" x 12.4" x 11.8" and those for the main unit are 8.1" x 12.4" x 11.2"...^IFV

    • Answer Hi sirsib1. "S Protect" on the LG XBOOM 700W 2.1ch Mini Shelf System with Subwoofer and Bluetooth®, Model # CM4590 is caused by a speaker short. Check to make sure that you do not have strands of wire on the speaker terminals touching where they may be causing a short. The speakers maybe damaged internally and that would require an inspection by a qualified service technician. It could also be a problem with the amplifier output to the speakers which will also need to be inspected by a qualified service technician...^IFV

  • QuestionHow long are the speaker wires? I'm curious if the speakers can be moved away from the main unit

    • Answer I saw on here prior to buying this exact model that the wires were stated here to be 6 to 8 feet in length, because I wanted to know as well. I can say for a fact and measured the wires for both speakers and subwoofer that each of the wires are 5 feet in length and not what was stated here above. The month and year my model was dated for is August 2019. I can say I was disappointed that the wires were a whole foot shorter than stated here and I really did need at least 6 feet of length to connect to the main unit. I did manage to make it work with my set up, but 6 to 8 feet is incorrect for the wire length to connect to the main unit. I hope this helps someone and also would like to know where someone got 6 to 8 feet from for the length of the wires.

    • Answer I just received mine a couple days ago and had a manufacture date of August 2019 and also printed on the back of the main unit is "Made in China". Attached here is the sticker on the back of my main unit.
